SACO/BIDDEFORD — Leona E. Carr, 93, of Saco and Biddeford, and formerly of Erin and Horseheads, N.Y., passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014.
Leona was born Feb. 6, 1921 in Wayland, N.Y., the daughter of the late Howard Colton Wilson and Edna Dunham Wilson.
She married her husband, Donald L. Carr Sr., on Dec. 23, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2000 after more than 60 years of marriage.
Leona enjoyed going to Dunkin’ Donuts for a cup of coffee and a doughnut.
She and Donald were longtime members of The Erin United Methodist Church.
Leona was also preceded in death by: her sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Mildred Wilson Kuhn.
Mrs. Carr is survived by: her sons and daughters-in-law: Donald L. and Cheryl Carr Jr. of Hollis Center and Ronald G. and Valeree Carr of Nottingham, N.H.; grandchildren, Darren Carr and wife Sheryl, Brian Carr, Roger Carr and wife Donna, Rhonda Daigler and husband David, and Christina Volo and husband Guiseppi; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Carr, Aiden Carr, Dawson Carr, Erinn Carr, Finnian Carr, Dana Daigler, Justin Daigler, Katelyn Carr, Zachary Carr, Giovanni Volo and Vincenzo Volo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard C. and Helen Wilson Jr. of Erin, N.Y., Ernest Wilson of Maiden, N.C. and Raymond and Rachel Wilson of South Carolina; sisters, Olive Kline and husband Randall of Erin, N.Y. and Esther Karppala of Horseheads, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of caring friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home, 318 West Broad St. in Horseheads, N.Y., on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. Mrs. Carr’s funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with the Rev. Beverly Davenport officiating. Leona will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Donald, in Millport Cemetery in Millport, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions in Mrs. Carr’s memory to The American Cancer Society.
