SACO — Lucien “Lou” G. Trempe, of Saco, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Jan. 25, 2014 at The Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born Oct. 24, 1941 in Biddeford, a son of Oscar and Jeanette (Martineau) Trempe.
He attended local schools and graduated with high honors in 1960 from St. Louis High School.
On Sept. 2, 1961, he married the love of his life, Priscilla J. Bissonnette, at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.
For most of his life, Lou worked in heavy duty truck part sales and was most recently employed at Napa Auto Parts in Saco.
Lou was a lead vocalist and played the keyboard. From early on in his musical career, he played an instrumental part in developing many local bands. The current band “Spectrum” he had been with since 1987.
When he was not involved with his music, Lou enjoyed his home life. He really enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, and was an excellent gardener, both with vegetables and flowers, but his greatest pride was with his flowers.
He was a member of The St. Louis Alumni and The Alliance.
Lou was preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters, Georgette Martel and Priscille Trempe.
Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, Priscilla J. Bissonnette Trempe; three sons, Kevin M. Trempe and his wife Kim of Chesterfield, Va., Brian R. Trempe and his wife Pamela of Old Orchard Beach and Bruce A. Trempe and his wife Tina of North Waterboro; four grandchildren, Gary B. Trempe and his wife Alyson of Biddeford, Vanessa R. Trempe of Old Orchard Beach, Pvt. Brandon A. Trempe and his wife Shayann and Braelynne T. Trempe, all of North Waterboro; one brother, Ralph R Trempe and his wife Annette of Scarborough; as well as many nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
