Donations Received

Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors has received generous donations recently from Wendy Gushee and Amy Ford. WNHN is a local, all-volunteer group that provides emergency fuel assistance to those in critical need. The only source of funds to provide this help is from donations and fundraisers. For information on how you can help, or if you need help, visit the website at www.windhamneighbors.org.

Chili Challenge

Saturday, Feb. 1, the annual Chili Challenge will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at North Windham Union Church. Stop in and sample all the varieties offered – proceeds will benefit the Windham Community Garden, which benefits all of us. $7 for adults, $4 for children under 12.

Windham Militia

Back in 1976, as part of the country’s birthday celebration, some Windham folks organized the New Marblehead Militia. The group appeared in parades, held patriotic events and represented the town at special occasions. Some interest has been expressed to the Windham Historical Society about getting re-organized. The society would like to hear from former members and those who would be interested in creating such a group – again. The society would also like donations of uniforms and paraphernalia used by the 1976 group. For more information, contact the society at info@windhamhistorical.org or call Dave Tanguay, 892-1306.

Democrats Meet

Lake Region Democrats will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, at the Windham Public Library. Special guest will be Shenna Bellows, candidate for the U.S. Senate.
