SANFORD — York County Community Action is reminding folks that is isn’t too late to enroll in a health insurance plan.

YCCAC Health Insurance Navigators continue to book appointments and schedule outreach events to help people enroll in a health insurance plan before the March 31 deadline.

Enrollment in a qualified health plan through the Insurance Marketplace will enable consumers to receive high-quality health care and avoid a tax penalty of $95 or 1 percent of their total income on their 2015 income tax returns, said Rebecca Hayes of YCCAC. Many preventive services, including screenings and physical exams, are free under new insurance plans.

Navigators are available to provide individual, step-by-step support to consumers to help them enroll in a plan, and apply for financial assistance that may significantly decrease their monthly premium and out-of-pocket health care expenses.

In February, YCCAC’s Navigators will be providing outreach and enrollment events at the following locations in York County:

Ӣ Monday, Feb. 3, 6-8 p.m. Information session at Massabesic Center for Adult Learning, 84 West Road, Waterboro.
