POLAND — It was announced on Wednesday that the Polish Basketball Federation has named Maine Red Claws head coach Mike Taylor as the head coach of the Polish Senior Men’s National Team.

Taylor, now in his second season with Maine, has an extensive resume coaching basketball on the international level. He was the head coach for ratiopharm Ulm in Germany from 2003-11 when he took the team from the 2nd Bundesliga and helped guide them to promotion to the Bundesliga and into the Bundesliga playoffs. In his 10 seasons in Europe between teams in Germany and England, Taylor amassed a record of 188-115. Additionally, Taylor served as an assistant coach with the Czech Republic Senior Men’s National Team during the summers between 2010 and 2013.

“I am extremely honored for this opportunity,” said coach Taylor. “I would not have gotten to this point if not for the support of people such as Danny and Austin Ainge, Brad Stevens, Doc Rivers and Tommy Sheppard.”

Taylor will lead the Polish team this summer in qualification for the EuroBasket 2015 in Ukraine.
