BIDDEFORD — Doris L. Chase, 69, of Jay Drive, passed away on Jan. 21, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

She was born in Biddeford on Oct. 18, 1944, the daughter of the late Maynard Sr. and Erma (Brackett) Pelkey.

Doris attended Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1964.

She worked more than 30 years in planning for Fairchilds/National Semiconductor. She received a degree from Andover College in 1998, then went on to work more than 10 years for New England Pharmacy Group before retiring. 

Doris was a compassionate and caring daughter, partner, friend and neighbor. She was a caretaker of many, and saw life in a positive light. She proudly volunteered 15 years of work with AA/Al Anon, coordinating group meetings and providing counsel to others.

In her youth, she enjoyed dancing and lived life to the fullest. Through the years, she enjoyed get-together dinners with old coworkers, long country rides with her companion, and time spent with good friends, neighbors, and the folks at the Dunkin’ Donuts in the Biddeford Walmart.

She was predeceased by: her parents; and a brother, Maynard Pelkey Jr. of Colorado.

Doris is survived by: her companion, Bradley Fletcher of Biddeford; her nieces, Deborah Pelkey of California and Kimberly Terrell-Siesken of Colorado; Bradley’s daughter, Laurie Jackson of North Waterboro; and many dear friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held at 3 p.m. on Jan. 30, at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. The Rev. Dr. Burton Howe will officiate.
