SANFORD — Yvette G. Dumont, 87, of Sanford, passed away at the Pavilion on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.
She was born in Sanford on July 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Eugene and Laura (Dery) Caron.
A lifelong communicant of Holy Family Parish, she also attended the parish school as a young girl.
For many years she was employed in the local shoe shops.
She enjoyed working on picture puzzles and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Germain Dumont, who passed away in 2009; her siblings, Fernand Caron, Gerard Caron, Raymond Caron, Jean-Guy Caron, Dennis Caron, Thérèse L’Heureux, Gertrude Pierce and Rita Caron.
She is survived by: her son, Michael Dumont and his wife Lorette; sisters, Jeanne Rioux of Biddeford, Doris Higgins and Germaine Chevalier and her husband Paul, all of Sanford; brother, Henry Caron and his wife Paula; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and workers at the Pavilion for the professional care and support given to Yvette and the family, including Bentley, the therapy dog, for his comforting presence. Also the staff of Sol Amor Hospice for the care given to Yvette in her final days.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.
