BIDDEFORD — Richard H. “Dick” Davis, 76, of Biddeford, passed away in his sleep Jan. 22, 2014 at his home, following a short illness.

He was born Dec. 19, 1937 in Biddeford, a son of J. Harry and Bernice (Andrews) Davis.

He was educated locally and was a 1987 graduate of Biddeford Adult Education.

On May 21, 1960, he married Joan T. Sherwood at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

Dick had been employed with Pepperell Mfg. Co. for nine years, Maremont Corp. for 25 years and McGuire & Jones in South Portland for nine years. For the past 10 years, he had been a door greeter at the Biddeford Walmart.

He enjoyed outings with his family, where he loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren having fun. He had also enjoyed going to New York with his daughter, Cecile, and seeing the Patriots defeat the Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed watching the Patriots on TV and going to the Biddeford Tigers football games.

His daughter, Catherine Lamontagne, preceded Dick in death on June 18, 2013.

He was also preceded in death by: a sister, Lorraine Dunton in 2005; and a brother, John Davis in 2009.

Surviving are: his wife of 53 years, Joan Sherwood Davis of Biddeford; two sons, Michael Davis of Oregon and Brian Davis of Biddeford; one daughter, Cecile Rogers of Biddeford; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at Hope on Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
