BURLINGTON, MA — Frances Bryant, age 99, passed away peacefully in her home on Dec. 13, 2013, in Burlington, MA. She was born on Sept. 29, 1914, in Alna, Maine, to Walter S. and Bernice J. Jones. Frances was predeceased by her six siblings: 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Frances attended the Alna Village School and was a graduate of Lincoln Academy, class of 1932, in Newcastle, Maine. After high school she attended the Maine School of Commerce in Auburn, Maine. She remained in the Lewiston- Auburn area where she was employed in the office of J.W. White Lumber Co of Lewiston. After her marriage in 1942, she worked as a private secretary to the Transportation Officer at Camp Wheeler, Macon, GA. In later years she was a clerk, typist for Physicians Billing Service in Bath, Maine.

Frances was the widow of O. Cleveland Bryant. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2002. After retirement, she and Cleve spent summers at their home in Nobleboro, Maine, on Damariscotta Lake and winters in Sarasota, FL. Fran and Cleve hosted many gatherings of family and friends in both Maine and Florida. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nobleboro for many years.

Frances is survived by daughters Barbara Pillsbury of Lyman, Maine, Suzanne Wing of Burlington, MA, and Cheryl Hammond of Huntsville, AL; as well as 7 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered and sadly missed with much love and by her family, friends and caregivers. She was a very special and remarkable wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

There will be a graveside service in the spring at the Alna Center Cemetery, Alna, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church of Nobleboro, P.O. Box 35, Nobleboro, ME 04555 or Visiting Nurse and Community Health and Hospice (VNCH), 37 Broadway, Suite 2, Arlington, MA 02474.
