NEWCASTLE — The DaPonte String Quartet is offering the Midcoast a free Christmas concert as its way of thanking the community for its support over the last 22 years. The concert will consist of music by Randall Thompson, Henry Purcell, Antonio Vivaldi, and Antonin Dvorak. The performance is Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 pm in the Second Congregational Church on Main Street in Newcastle.

With over 40 concerts and performances a year, in churches, schools, libraries and retirement communities all over Maine, they are the only chamber music group to perform both year round and across the state.
