The Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance launched a website devoted to profiling and promoting Maine writers and authors.
The site, http://find.mainewriters.o rg features 75 writers and their work. New authors are added weekly.
To be featured, members must join at the $55 level, which is only $10 above the basic membership level. The extra money pays for hosting and maintenance.
“Our theory of action is that each profiled writer contributes a small amount, and then everyone gets to benefit from the collective investment,” said Stephen Abbott, assistant director of the MWPA. “We are always working to add new benefits for our members, particularly benefits that help our entire statewide literary community, not just individuals. We’re leveraging small contributions to create a promotional vehicle that can reach a global audience.”
