BATH

The perfect combination of creative energy will meet tonight at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St., with the opening reception for the Holiday Small Wonders art exhibit and the next in the series of the Third Friday Concerts featuring Robby Simpson and The Thunderbirds.

For years from March through September, Bath has come alive on the third Fridays, when art galleries uniformly open to the public.

Now that the weather has turned cooler, the tradition has continued, but focuses on local musicians and the performing arts at the Chocolate Church.

Luckily, organizers said, the November calendar aligns perfectly to combine visual and performing arts in one artful evening.

The reception for the final art exhibition of the year, “Holiday Small Wonders,” will begin at 5 p.m. with works by Howard Search, Lois Strickland, kdb, Maya Kuvaja, David Costello, Jane Page Conway and Andrea Black. This show is especially curated with the intent of showcasing art priced at or below $200 for gift giving ideas.

That same evening, the next Third Friday Concert series will be held to benefit for the Chocolate Church and celebrate local musicians will be held.

Robby Simpson and the Thunderbirds are the headliners with opening performances by Lisa Redfern, who is an award-winning singersongwriter who blends her roots in folk, bluegrass, country, gospel, blues and swing to create something unmistakably her own; and by Aaron Nadeau who combines masterful guitar with his own blend of poetic lyrics, a surprise coming from such a young talent. Doors open at 7 and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.

People who are interested or curious about the visual arts or who enjoy music are encouraged to attend this wonderful evening of everything creative and local. Tickets for the benefit concert are $10, available at www.chocolatechurcharts.or g or call 442-8455.
