Pajama Story Time At Raymond Village Library
Thanks to a grant from The Friends of Maine Libraries, Maine author Brenda Reeves Sturgis will entertain and delight kids and their families at Raymond Village Library’s Annual Pajama Story. Please join Ms. Sturgis on Monday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m.Sturgis is best known for her book, “10 Turkeys in the Road.” Be sure to go early and remember to wear your PJs! Healthy snacks will be served.
Money in Politics
Also at the Raymond Village Library, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m., guest speaker BJ McCollister will give a presentation exploring the role of money in politics in Maine’s elections. Mr. McCollister has an extensive background in political campaigns and issue advocacy organizations. This discussion is presented by Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, a non-partisan organization.
Gift Basket Fundraiser
The Raymond Village Library is putting together gift baskets available for purchase during the holiday season. The baskets are made from donated items and all proceeds go to support the Raymond Village Library. They are still in need of items such as:
• Clean small- to medium-sized baskets
• Clean basket stuffing/decorative colored straw/shred
• Cellophane basket bags – medium to large
• Antique or new – tea cups, coffee mugs, and soup mugs
• Packets of individually packed cookies, chip, popcorn or other snacks
• Individually wrapped hard candies, candy canes, and chocolates
• Mini packs of tea, coffee, cider mix, hot chocolate or soup
• Small holiday wooden or plastic tree decorations
• Holiday stems of silk flowers
• Small gift items or knickknacks or toys for man, woman, or child
• Small gift books for man, woman, or child
The items may be brought to the library through Nov. 10. Volunteers will be needed to help put the baskets together on Nov. 12, beginning at 5 p.m. A sign-up sheet is available at the library, or you can call 655-4283. A short “how-to” session will be given, then the fun begins! Refreshments will be served.
Gift baskets will go on sale starting Monday, Nov. 18, in time for Thanksgiving. The baskets are all sizes and types filled with goodies and gifts for holiday giving. They are perfect present for a hostess, teacher or special friend. They are available for purchase during regular library hours through December or until they are gone.

Thanksgiving Donations Needed
The Raymond Village Community Church will be putting together Thanksgiving Food Baskets for families in need this holiday season. Donations from the community are needed to support this annual program. Food items such as cranberry sauce, stuffing, vegetables, fruit, baked goods, butter, and breads can be dropped off in the church vestry starting Nov. 21. Baskets will be assembled Sunday, Nov. 24, and distributed Monday the 25th from 2-7 p.m. Monetary donations are also needed to purchase the turkey for the baskets. As the holidays approach, Dog Gone Grooming and Emily’s Place will be kicking off their annual holiday pet food drive. Dog Gone, located at 1311 Roosevelt Trail in Raymond, will be a drop-off point. Items donated will go to surrounding Lake Region food pantries to ensure both families and pets have access to food. Items needed are canned and dry dog food and cat food, as well as dog and cat treats. They will also collect cat litter. The drive will go through the end of the year.
