Castlebay
Castlebay, consisting of Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee, has been musically weaving together the heritage of New England and Celtic lands since 1987. The duo will deliver a special Celtic celebration of Samhain, also known as Halloween, at the Village Coffee House of New Gloucester on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Vestry Community Room of the First Congregational Church, 19 Gloucester Hill Road, New Gloucester.

Blood Drive
The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive at Pineland Farms from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the Mt. Washington Room. All presenting donors will receive a guest pass to the Pineland YMCA. Make an appointment at www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RedCross.
Winter Farmers Market
The Cumberland Farmers Market Association, widely known for providing the best quality local food and handcrafted products since 1996, is pleased to announce that the market will continue every Wednesday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., through Wednesday, Dec. 22. Its winter location is the greenhouse at Allen, Sterling & Lothrup, Route 1, Falmouth.
Fourteen vendors, including New Gloucester-based Connemara Farm and Farmers’ Eight Daughters, offer an array of artisanal wares, produce, seafood, eggs, knife sharpening, gluten-free baked goods, organic food, goat cheese, and bread. Harvest Supper at Amvets
The Ladies Auxiliary of Amvets Post No. 6 will be sponsoring a Harvest Supper from 5-6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. This public supper will take place at Amvets Post No. 6, Lewiston Road, New Gloucester.
The menu will consist of baked ham, potatoes, carrots, squash, turnip, onions, rolls, dessert and a beverage. The cost is $9 for those 12 and up, $5 for children 5-11, under 5 free. Proceeds to benefit veterans’ programs. For more information, call Joyce at 926-4693.
Wind Over Wings
Meet birds of prey along with animal rehabilitator Hope Douglas. She will bring a golden eagle, American kestrel, an owl, and a red-tailed hawk to see up close and learn about. This program will occur from 1-2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, and will be repeated on Monday, Dec. 30. It is open to ages 3 and up and will be held in the Mt. Washington Room of the Pineland Commons. First, buy tickets at The Market and Welcome Center, 15 Farm View Drive, New Gloucester for $5 per person.
Master Planning Workshop II
The New Gloucester Planning Department invites the public to the second of three workshops to help shape the future growth and development of the Upper Village. ‘Workshop II: Draft Plan’ will occur from 9 a.m. to about 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Memorial School Gymnasium, 86 Intervale Road, New Gloucester.
At this workshop, consider draft plans for the village, determine land uses and residential densities, and project phasing. Free lunch will be provided. Break bread with your neighbors while working together on a plan for the town’s future.
Christmas Assistance
The Caring Community of Gray-New Gloucester provides holiday meals, and gifts for children at Christmastime, to residents of Gray and New Gloucester, both individuals and families alike, who find themselves in need during the holiday season. Christmas applications will be available at the Gray and New Gloucester Town Halls, Gray Public Library, Dunn School, Memorial School and Russell School. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, Dec 6.

Election Day
Voting will take place, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at the New Gloucester Fire Station, 611 Lewiston Road. The ballot will consist of five state referendum bond issue questions.
