SACO — Robert Michael Belanger, 60, of Shirmel Circle, passed away on October 7, 2013, at his sister’s residence.
He was born in Biddeford, on December 16, 1952, the son of Joseph and Mary Foglio Belanger.
He attended local schools. He later attended schools in California and later graduated from Brunswick High school.
Robert’s first place of employment was with the ski shop of the Brunswick Naval Air station.
While working in Brunswick, he attended turf school and became involved as superintendent with golf courses.
He first became involved with the golf course at the Brunswick Naval Base and then the Bath Country Club. His later employment included Cyprian Keyes Public golf course, Lucerne Golf Course in Ellsworth, the Ledges in York and then Sunset Ridge.
Robert is survived by a son, Michael Belanger and his wife Melissa of Phippsburg; close friends, Mark (Tiger) Jenkins and his wife Joyce of Harpswell; 2 sisters, Patricia Molnar and her husband Joe of Brunswick and Sandra Lapointe of Saco; 2 grandchildren Ayden and Adeline Belanger, and several nephews and nieces and other close friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery in Biddeford. Father Colpitts of St. Matthews Catholic Church will officiate.
Dennett, Craig & Pate, 365 Main St., Saco, are charge of the arrangements.
