PORTLAND — The State Street Traditional Jazz Band played jazz promoter Sissy Lindemann to rest on Tuesday at St. Luke’s Cathedral.
Jazz funerals are passing strange in Maine, but Lindemann was not your basic jazz fan. She had organized and, for years, managed, the jazz brunch at the Portland Museum of Art. The jazz brunches came to an end in 2011, but they’ve been missed, and Lindemann’s family has expressed an interest in restarting them.
State Street Jazz plays with regularity at Merriconeag Grange in Harpswell; its next performance is Aug. 24.
