WISCASSET — “French, British and American Impressionism” will open at the Wiscasset Bay Gallery on Saturday, Aug. 10. Impressionist views of Paris and Saint Tropez will be displayed along with English countryside landscapes, New York City street scenes and harbor views of Cape Anne.
Of particular note is a bustling cityscape of Le Pont de la Concorde in Paris with horses and carriages driven by men in black top hats and ladies with parasols by Anotole Eugene Hillairet (French, 1880-1928)
Other artists include the British impressionist William Dennis; Americans Anthony Thieme, James Francis Brown, Frank Benson, John Fulton Folinsbee, Henry Pember Smith and Penrhyn Stanlaws; and French impressionists Jean Louis Forain and Marcel Vertes.
