Coyote program at North Gorham
Have you heard howls outside your house at night?
Learn about coyotes, who live in Maine, when biologist Geri Vistein presents “Coyote – America’s Songdog” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, at the North Gorham Public Library, 2 Standish Neck Road.
“Since we share the landscape with this important, resilient carnivore, this is an opportunity to explore how we impact each others lives,” Kathy Corbett, library director said in a statement.

Misiuk Congressional candidate
Isaac Misiuk, 24, of Gorham, announced on Aug. 7 his intentions to run for Maine’s 1st Congressional District. “The status quo in Washington isn’t working,” Misiuk said in a statement. “We need a new approach. A fresh perspective.”
A lifelong resident of southern Maine, Misiuk said he was urged to run by his colleagues around Maine and across the nation. He is an active member of the Republican Party, vice chairman of the Cumberland County Young Republicans, and former president of the College Republicans at the University of Southern Maine.
He said in his press release: “One of the most important things we need to be focusing on is our next generation. I know firsthand what it’s like for my generation, and it’s not good. I have friends with college degrees that are barely getting by on minimum wage while paying off massive loan debt. As a father, I have to worry not only about my generation, but my son’s generation too. I’m running for my children and for yours.”
At the USM, Misiuk was a student senator and was appointed to serve in the student body president’s cabinet as the director of student development.
