TOPSHAM — The Topsham Public Library has a busy month planned in August.

On the agenda is a Writers’ Workshop on Aug. 8, from 5 to 6 p.m. This will be an informal gathering of teen and adult writers who would like to discuss their writing.

On Aug. 6 at 6 p.m., Michael Parent — author and musician, storyteller, and Maine native — draws upon his Franco-American heritage to perform a unique blend of stories, songs and one-man shows. He is an award-winning storyteller of international renown who will entertain the whole family. Limited to the first 100 people.

On Aug. 10 at 4 p.m. there will be a Murder Mystery Dinner. Reservations are being sought for “Poetic Justice,” an interactive murder mystery dinner. Participants must register in person at the library and choose a character. Limited to 50 people. The deadline for registration is Aug. 1.

A Third Thursday Teen Craft Hour is planned Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. Registration is required. Ages 11-18 can join Cyndi and make a lamp.

Mad Science will be held Aug. 16 at 3 p.m. Participants will observe how electricity flows through wires and water and will problem-solve to create simple circuits that will light a light bulb. They will experiment with Mad Science electricity labs, a nerve tester and an amazing Tooth Tunes device.

A teen book discussion is planned Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. The focus will be on all three books in the “Maze Runner” trilogy by James Dashner. For ages 11-18, this is led by Cyndi. Snacks will be provided and registration is required.

An Art Lab is planned Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. Experiment with different tools and techniques to create unique works of art. Exercises taken from the book “Art Lab for Kids” will encourage kids to explore mixed media and their own creativity. Materials will be provided and the art lab will be facilitated by Mariah. Registration is needed for this ages 6-13 program.

“The Tenth of December” Book Discussion will be Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Join others who have read this brilliant, arresting and deeply humane collection written by George Saunders and named by the New York Times as the “best book you’ll read this year.” We will concentrate on the stories “Victory Lap,” “Sticks” and “Tenth of December.”

Business Success Seminars are planned Aug. 21 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. “Hidden Opportunities in the Affordable Care Act for Small Businesses” will be presented by Walt Reynolds of Ship Shape Financial and Justin Holmes of Inform LLC & Combined Benefits United. The Fourth Saturday Storytime will be Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m.

Legos Club meets Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. Drop-ins welcome.

On Aug. 27, Cathance River Arts Alliance will present “Wee Cathance Creatures” at 6:30 p.m. David Reed, biologist and photographer, leads the session.

Sip & Stitch, a weekly knitting and crocheting club, meets Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. All abilities welcome.
