DAMARISCOTTA — The opening reception for River Arts’ new exhibition, “Maine Icons and Special Places,” is today, July 19, from 5-7 p.m.

The exhibition features artwork portraying the artists’ sense of place in Maine through their favorite locations and landscapes, as well as iconic images of Maine life in sculpture, painting, photography and collage.

More than 130 works by 90 artists from the Midcoast and beyond will be on display with all media represented, including photography and sculpture. The exhibition will run through Aug. 22.

River Arts is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sundays at 241 U.S. Route 1 (north).
