LEWISTON — A family barn dance featuring fun and easy contra and square dances for all ages will be held today, July 12, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St.
The dances will be taught by Cindy Larock, with live music provided by a locally grown, multi-generational folk orchestra. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for youth up to age 22. Callahan Hall is air conditioned.
From 8 to 10:30 p.m., an evening of traditional New England contra and couple dancing will take place, with music by fiddler Frank Ferrel and pianist Doug Protsik, with caller Maggie Robinson. All ages taught, no experience necessary. Cost is $5 for adults, $2 for students. Come with or without a partner.
