BOOTHBAY — On Saturday, July 13, the ninth annual Books in Boothbay: Maine’s Summer Book Fair will be held at the Boothbay Railway Village, with 40 Maine authors attending.
Four authors have been selected to read from their works and answer questions as part of this literary event, the largest one-day book fair in Northern New England.
Books in Boothbay will be held in the historic 1847 Boothbay Town Hall on The Railway Village (www.railwayvillage.org) grounds; readings will take place in the adjacent and historic Spruce Point Chapel.
Susan Poulin will read from “Finding Your Inner Moose,” her first Ida LeClair book. Ida is a character she has created and long portrayed to the delight of many an audience. She is a certified Maine life guide, offering heartfelt and hilarious advice on a variety of subjects.
Paul Molyneaux and his son, Asher, will read from “A Child’s Walk in the Wilderness: An 8-Year-Old Boy and His Father Take on the Appalachian Trail.” It is a heartening journey, filled with adventure, dangers and surprises of joy. Hear how they handled flooded trails, snowy weather, bear country, steep climbs, temper tantrums and getting lost. The book is illustrated with young Asher’s journal drawings.
Jennifer O’Connell will delight with excerpts from her new book, “The Eye of the Whale.” It is the story of the first successful whale disentanglement performed off the West Coast of the United States, prompting a rare and remarkable demonstration of animal behavior.
Edgar award recognized author Paul Doiron will read from his new mystery, “Massacre Pond,” which has been released early by his New York publisher so the book would be available to Books in Boothbay attendees on July 13. Besides being an author of best-selling novels, Doiron is publisher of Downeast magazine.

Paul Reynold, Barbara Ross, Richard Rubin, Darcy Scott, Kieran Shields, Lea Wait and Martha White.
The Book Fair will run from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free to both the fair and the Railway Village grounds from noon until closing. Free parking. Train rides are $5 to fair participants.
