TOPSHAM
Cox Insurance Agency and Down East Insurance Agency — both based in Topsham — are merging.
Melanie Munsey, president of Down East Insurance Agency, announced the merger in a news release, saying it “will provide uninterrupted service to current Cox customers.”
The Cox Agency, serving the Topsham community for more than 40 years, was founded by Sandy Cox, who will retire this year.
The merger of the two companies is “a perfect match,” Munsey said. “We were already neighbors.”
The merger will provide more services, including a Health and Life Division; as well as new carriers, including The Concord Group.
The staff of the Cox Agency will locate to their new office, at 94 Main St., later this summer.
Down East Insurance Agency is a wholly-owned credit union service organization owned by Down East Credit Union. In addition to its headquarters in Topsham, it has offices in Richmond, Unity and Baileyville.
