BRUNSWICK — Wendelin Choiniere, a Brunswick woman and University of Maine engineering student at Brunswick Landing, spent six days in in Orono earlier this month at the Maine NEW Leadership program.
Sponsored by the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center at the University of Maine, the six-day, nonpartisan public leadership education program helps participants learn skills and develop networks that empower them to become civic and public leaders.
Twenty-eight women from 16 postsecondary institutions were selected t attend through a competitive application process.
“It was truly inspiring,” Choiniere said. “I’ve already been able to apply the motivation and skills that the Maine NEW leadership gave me to be of service to the community.”
Choiniere expects to graduate in 2016 with a computer engineering degree.
