Mark your calendars for a return to Thomas Point Beach and the annual People Plus summer picnic.
This years’ Lunch & Connection extravaganza will be July 18. Come to the park early and reacquaint yourself with the beach. Burgers, hot dogs, salads and watermelon will be served at noon. Cost for this picnic is $6 for members and $7.50 for nonmembers.
We have reserved the “new” site, located closest to the beach. We’ll have our tents set if it’s sunny, and we will cancel, with no reschedule date, if it is raining.
Wading is encouraged, and there are few places in Brunswick where the walking is safer and more scenic than at this 85 acre, bay-side park.
Beach manager Patti Crooker also wants to remind us that any card-carrying member of People Plus can enjoy the beach any weekday for the cost of only $1. This is half the regular senior rate, and less than one third of the regular admission rate.
“My mother loved People Plus,” Patti remembers proudly. “This I want to do in her memory.”
