BRUNSWICK — Children aged 8-17 interested in flight and aviation can learn about planes and go for a sightseeing flight on Saturday, June 22.

The flights and aviation fair will be hosted by the local Chapter 87 of the Experimental Aircraft Association, formerly of Wiscasset but now based at Brunswick Executive Airport, or BXM.

Registration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Hangar 6, with flights to begin at 10 a.m.

The rally helps to create interest in youths who might want to fly or pursue a career in aviation, but are unsure how, said local Young Eagles coordinator, Russell Keith.

Seven pilots are committed, but Keith expects about 10 to be present Saturday.

“This is the second time we’ll have it at Brunswick,” he said. “We’ll try to accommodate everybody, but if there are more than we can handle Saturday we’ll try to schedule other times with the pilots and kids.”
