FREEPORT — L.L. Bean will hold its 32nd annual PaddleSports Weekend, today through Sunday.
This year’s event will feature a variety of waterfront activities just minutes from the store on Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9, at the L.L. Bean Paddling Center.
There will be free boat testing with hundreds of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and canoes and the chance to speak with industry vendors and experts.
Additional highlights include a stand-up paddleboarding race for all abilities on Saturday and Sunday. Space for the race is limited so call 888-552-3261 to register.
On Saturday, world champion snowboarder and L.L. Bean testing and design partner Seth Wescott will be onhand during the race to visit with racers, sign autographs and hand out awards after the race.
In addition, there will be live music with the Lay-ZGait Band on Saturday and Sylvain’s Acadian Aces on Sunday, craft making for kids and more. Fresh sandwiches and snacks will be available with all proceeds benefiting The Boy Scouts of America, Fire Explorer Post 60 of Freeport. Free shuttles will be running all weekend long to and from the Flagship Store and Paddling Center.
At the L.L. Bean campus of stores in downtown Freeport, there are even more events such as demonstrations and clinics, nonprofit guests, vendors and much more. Special promotions start today and include a free kayak tour or introductory course with the purchase of any kayak, 20 percent off all kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards and Thule racks and 10 percent off paddling accessories with the purchase of a boat. And if you buy a car rack system or component during the event, L.L. Bean will install it for free.
