BRUNSWICK — It’s almost summer and that means it’s time for the All Saints Parish 38th Annual St. John’s Bazaar.

This long-standing tradition marks the start of the summer season in the Midcoast with weekend-long family fun.

The bazaar will open Friday, June 14, from 5-10 p.m. and continue Saturday, June 15, from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. The final day is Sunday, June 16, with hours from noon-5 p.m.

Located on the grounds of St. John the Baptist Church, 39 Pleasant St., St. John’s Bazaar features games, live entertainment, raffles, food, giant yard sale, amusement rides by Smokey’s Greater Shows, and much more. Admission is free.

The traditional preview day will be held Friday, June 14, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Preview day began as a way to share the bazaar experience with elderly and disabled friends and neighbors. Preview hours are by invitation only.

Advance ride tickets provide savings up to 50 percent on all amusement rides. Advanced tickets are $1 per ticket and are sold in strips of five. They are available until June 13 at the service desk at Hannaford in Brunswick and Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union in Brunswick and Topsham. Money raffle tickets are available at Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union in Brunswick and Topsham, the parish office at 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, or at the raffle ticket booth on the bazaar grounds June 14-16. It cost s $1 per ticket or $5 for a book of six tickets. Prizes are $1,000, $750, $500, $250 and $250.

This year marks the third annual horseshoe tournament at St. John’s Bazaar. Entry fee is $25 per team or $15 individual. Two-member teams are ages 14 and older. A “Round Robin” schedule will be played Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15, with the championship round on Sunday, June 16. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

The Viking Va-K 5K and Family Fun Run will provide a fun experience for the entire family. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Fun Run begins at 9:15 a.m. for kids of all ages. Registration is $25 for the 5K; fun run fee is $10. There will be T-shirts, awards and more. Also at the bazaar is the Ursuline Mall. Featuring gently used items, the Ursuline Mall is a large yard sale held under a tent. Come and check out the array of dishware, toys, books, games, puzzles, bikes, records, VHS, DVDs, CDs, cassettes, jewelry, personal care items, linens, religious items, small furniture and collectables.

The weekend also features live entertainment including:

— Friday, June 14, 6-9 p.m. Sly Chi, a Portland-based classic rock/funk band.

— Saturday, June 15, noon- 1:30 p.m. St. John’s “Bee Band,” featuring classic instrumental jazz; 2:30-4:30 p.m. Pejepscot Station, Midcoast bluegrass; 6-9 p.m. 43 North, a Portland-based group featuring modern country; and DJ music by “DJ Royal” Royce Andrew Gilliam.

— Sunday, June 16, DJ music by “Woody Woodstock” Tony Tondreau.
