New England Regional Theater’s production of “Godspell Jr.” holds its second weekend of performances “in the round” at Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St.

This weekend marks the fifth anniversary of the company, originally known as New England Theater Company. To celebrate, the troupe decided to perform a teen production of “Godspell Jr.,” an uplifting musical story of the life of Jesus in a modern way.

Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, “Godspell Jr.” boasts a string of wellloved songs, and allows each cast member a chance to shine. Performing in-theround, these young actors and actresses are singing and acting several feet away from the audience telling the story of Jesus to everyone and even bringing some on stage at the end.

Cast members include: Kiko Lopez of Brunswick, playing the role of Jesus, and Brian Pelletier of West Bath as Judas. Followers include Claire Dauge-Roth of Bath, Sophia Wood of Auburn, Taylor Messerman of Brunswick, Sarah Young of Woolwich, Amberly Shea of Brunswick, Cayleigh Hearth of Walpole, Olivia Botting of Lisbon Falls, Emma Rankins of Pownal and Maya Lopez of Brunswick.

Christopher Holmes of Boothbay directs the show, with Rebecca Beck of Brunswick as music director. Choreographer is Claire Dauge-Roth. Stage manager is Amanda Read with tech director Dylan Withers and sound engineer Devon Cromwell.

Showtimes are today and Saturday, May 24 and 25, at 7:30p.m.anda2p.m.matinee on Sunday, May 26. Tickets are $15/$12 for Friday and Saturday and on Sunday matinee $10/$8. Seating is limited so please reserve tickets by emailing nertctickets@gmail.com.
