DRESDEN — White’s Company, a local Revolutionary War Living History group, will give a salute at the 59th annual observance of Memorial Day to be held at the 1761 Pownalborough Court House.
The service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, May 27, at the flagpole on the parade ground.
The Rev. Bruce Alexander of Dresden, assisted by George White’s Company, with camp followers and families, will lead the assembled to the courthouse cemetery for a program of honor for our fallen soldiers. The salute at the parade ground will follow the brief service.
The courthouse will be open for tours after the Memorial Day ceremonies. Visitors can also picnic on the grounds, take a walk on the nature trail along the Kennebec River through a beautiful old stand of white pine, or explore the newly refurbished 2 / mile trail system across Route 128 from the courthouse entrance.
The suggested donation for the Pownalborough Court House is $5 per adult with all money going directly into building maintenance.
