What a resounding community response to our recent request that unused medications be brought to various collection sites for proper disposal!
During the four-hour collection period on April 27, people in Maine discarded in a record 22,260 pounds of medications no longer needed or wanted. That’s more than 11 tons of medications and drugs that won’t end up in our water supplies and landfills — or fall into the wrong hands. Thanks you all so very much.
Other opportunities to make and keep Maine a safer place to live are on the horizon. On June 11, there will be an opportunity to take a TRIAD supported AARP Driver Safety refresher class. This four-hour class reviews current “rules of the road” and provides tips that will hone driving skills, including defensive driving techniques, to increase driver safety in today’s everincreasing traffic and challenging driving environment. There are no tests.
Upon completion of this class, given by Bath Police Officer Jason Aucoin — also a Merrymeeting Bay TRIAD member — you will be eligible for a Maine State mandated discount on automobile insurance. The class will be held at the Bath Senior Center, 45 Floral St., Bath, on June 11 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call 443-4937 to register. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers.
