SATURDAY is “Community Appreciation Day” at Pejepscot Historical Society so admission to its musueums will be free. Skolfield-Whittier House Parlor, above, is just one of the rooms on display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The two Pejepscot Historical Society house museums — the Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum and the Skolfield- Whittier House — will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. free of charge for residents of Brunswick, Topsham and Harpswell.
Pejepscot Historical Society will also offer a special tour of the Chamberlain Museum at 3 p.m. on Saturday, featuring all the other residents of the home at the corner of Maine and Potter Streets: the “Everyone Else Who Lived in Chamberlain’s House Tour.” Locals who have been through the house before are especially invited to take part in this unique presentation of its other, less well known stories.
In conjunction with the Village Review Board and National Historic Preservation Month activities, the society will offer a walking history tour of Maine Street at 10 a.m. The walk, which is free, will be led by Dick Snow. Participants should gather before 10 a.m. at 159 Park Row.
At the Pejepscot Museum and Research Center at 159 Park Row, the society will hold a sidewalk sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
PHS’s two exhibits, “Brunswick and the Civil War” and “Home Decoration,” will also be open, free of charge.
