WOOLWICH — Roxanne Ryder Constantino, 63, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 4, 2013, with her loving family and pets by her side.
Born Oct. 5, 1949, in Milford, Conn., she was the daughter of Eugene Ryder Sr. and Joarn Hanson Ryder. She was raised by her precious “Nana” until her death when Roxanne was 13 years old.
Roxanne was a homemaker most of her life, raising her family between Maine and Texas throughout the years. In 1998 she married Anthony Constantino and they made their home in Wiscasset where she was a well-known breeder of AKC registered Chihuahuas. Her love of animals was her passion and there was always room in her heart and home for one more dog, cat or bird in need of rescue.
Roxanne was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Anthony; and a son, John Gilbert. She is survived by a daughter, Lesa Gilbert Smith of Gardiner; and a son, Todd Gilbert of Bath; brothers Eugene Ryder Jr., Brian Ryder, Jody Ryder and Kevin Farrin; sisters Kim Martin, Linda Gilbert, Valadon Venuto, Candy Sutherland and Lynn Hudson; stepmother Isabel Ryder; daughter-in-law Melissa Ryder Gilbert; and grandchildren Stephanie, Zachary and Emma Smith and Savannah, Joshua, Crystal and Abegail Gilbert.
At her request there will be no formal services. Donations in her memory can be made to Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb.
The family would like to thank Dr. R. Hunold, Stephanie Berry RN and Miles Hospice of Damariscotta. A special thanks goes to her best friend, David Patterson, who remained by her side as her caregiver for the last seven months of her life.
