BRUNSWICK — Alan Sockloff ’s large format black-andwhite photography exhibit “Eastport to Bailey Island: Coastal Maine” will be on view in the Morrell Meeting Room at Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St., through May 23.

A reception will be held during the Second Friday ArtWalk tonight from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

A news release describes the exhibit as follows:

The Coastal Maine series was photographed over an 18-year period from 1991 to 2009. The earlier photos were taken through 2004 while Sockloff lived in Pennsylvania and traveled every few years to photograph various locations along the Maine coast. In 2005, responding to the allure of Maine’s unique beauty, he and his wife relocated to Brunswick, allowing not only a change in lifestyle, but easier access to his favorite subjects.

Sockloff claims no hidden message in his works. His goal has been to enjoy his subject matter while creating images that are pleasing to his eye and soul.
