Successful run for food train
This year’s Food Train traveled along Main Street on Sunday from Trinity Lutheran Church with stops at Westbrook First Baptist and Westbrook-Warren Congregational churches in a drive to benefit the city’s needy.
“The second annual Climb Aboard the Food Train event was a big success in collecting donations for the Westbrook Food Pantry, “ the Rev. Karen Indorf, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church that sponsored the event, reported.
Indorf said the drive collected 125 boxes of food and money jars were being counted at TD Bank. “Trinity is very grateful for everyone who assisted and donated to help feed those in need of food assistance in Westbrook,” Indorf said.

Balancing act at gallery
A diverse pair of guest artists are in the lineup at Saccarappa Art Collective, 861 Main St., for its next exhibit cycle from May 17 through June 26.
The smooth, parabolic planes of Susan Wilder’s semi-abstract portraits of boats and water will hang in the main gallery, while Jim Flahaven’s bright, airy abstract compositions will hang on the Riverside Wall.
“Together these two strong, yet strikingly different styles make quite a statement about the individuality of artistic vision, and the portent of this fine young gallery as it begins the final lap of its first year. Viewers will enjoy a play of color and balance that is sure to please a broad range of artistic tastes,” the art collective reported in a statement.
An opening reception featuring wine and hors d’oeuvres will be 5- 8 p.m. on Friday, May 17.
Member artists Andy Curran, Sherry Ballou, Mary Brooking, Jody Dube, Jeremy Greene, Caren-Marie Michel, Frank Valliere, Julie Vohs , and guest artist Don Ogier will also present new work.
Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, noon-7 p.m. For more informationb, call 591-7300 or email saccarappaart@gmail.com.
