The first season for Manager Kevin Boles presented some challenges as the Sea Dogs finished in last place in the division with a 59-83 record, but there was still plenty of reasons for Portland fans to cheer.

Portland batters ranked third in the league with a .267 batting average, and led the Eastern League in runs (684), total bases (1996), doubles (298) and RBI (639).

Outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang set a team record with 72 career doubles, surpassing Brandon Moss, who set the record at 66 (2005-06). The 23-year-old Chiang represented Portland as an All-Star and was named the team MVP, hitting .340 with 18 home runs and 76 RBI in 88 games prior to being traded to Seattle on July 31.

Right-handed pitcher Stephen Fife, outfielder Alex Hassan, third baseman Will Middlebrooks and right-handed pitcher Alex Wilson also represented Portland on the league All-Star team.

Middlebrooks, 22, hit .302 with 18 home runs and 80 RBI in 96 games with Portland.

Wilson had a 9-4 record with a 3.05 ERA in 21 starts for Portland while Fife ended the season with an 11-4 record and a 3.66 ERA. Hassan batted .291 with 34 doubles, 13 home runs and 64 RBI in 126 games.
