AUBURN — The nonprofit Maine Blues Society will host a competition for Maine bands and solo/duo acts at the “Road to Memphis” contest to be held Sunday, May 19, from noon to 6 p.m.
The blues contest will be held at the American Legion Post 31 at 426 Washington St. Winners will be eligible to compete in the 2014 International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tenn., next January.
In order to participate, at least one member of a competing band or solo/duo act must be a current member of the Maine Blues Society as of May 3. In order to join the society, contact President Duane Little at mainebluessoc@gmail.com no later than Friday, May 3.
There will be two categories of contestants: blues bands, and blues solo or duo acts. The contest rules are based on the International Blues Foundation’s rules and format, which can be found at www.blues.org/#ref=ibc_ index.
