PORTLAND — Portland voters will decide May 14 whether to approve the Portland school budget, city officials announced Thursday.
School officials are still working on the budget, and the school board will vote on it Tuesday, April 9. The city council is scheduled to vote on the school budget on May 6.
School budgets must be approved by local voters under the state’s school consolidation law.
Voters will also be asked whether to continue the budget validation referendum process for another three years.
More information about the school budget can be found at www2.portlandschools.org/school-budget.
Absentee ballots are available upon request and can be returned to the City Clerk’s office after the City Council vote on the school budget, and before May 14, at 8 p.m.
