PORTLAND — Author Ann Hood introduces her new novel, “The Obituary Writer,” with a reading and question and answer session Wednesday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Southern Maine Bookstore.

Autographs will be signed at the end of the event.

Part literary mystery and part love story, “The Obituary Writer” examines expectations of marriage and love, the roles of wives and mothers, and the emotions of grief, regret and hope.
