FREEPORT – Two Freeport High School student-athletes have been chosen to represent the school the annual Western Maine Conference Citizenship Banquet.
Jocelyn Davee and James Purdy were selected by Principal Robert Strong and Athletic Director Craig Sickels to attend the banquet, set for Tuesday, April 9, at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland. Each year, the principals and athletic directors of each of the schools in the Western Maine Conference select two seniors who make contributions to their school in the areas of academics, athletics, leadership and citizenship.
According to the bios submitted to the conference, Davee has been an active student at Freeport High School and in the community. At FHS, she is a three-sport athlete, playing soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, including being the captain of the 2012 varsity soccer team. She enjoys giving back to the community through the National Honor Society, the Youth Advocacy Program, and peer mentoring. Her junior year, she traveled to the Dominican Republic. Next year, she plans to play soccer in college.
A four-year varsity starter and captain, Purdy is a motivated student athlete at Freeport High School. During the winter, he coaches a freestyle ski team at Loon Mountain. However, he continues to participate in various school organizations, volunteer activities, and community programs because of his dedication to the Freeport Community. Purdy hopes to attend Bentley University this fall.
