Teens have stayed busy with dozens of pool games, table tennis, chess, some lesser known games — for example, Risk: Indiana Jones Edition — and of course some of the old stand-by computer games, including Guitar Hero.
I have enjoyed getting to know the teens a bit better during this first month as coordinator, and am looking forward to the months ahead.
Thanks go out to many People Plus members who donated snacks this month. It was great to see teens munching on bananas, cashews and other healthy foods.
In addition, the Teen Center is gearing up for the 2013 Brunswick Teen Center Scoop-a-Thon Fundraiser at the Gelato Fiasco. The Gelato Fiasco and the Brunswick Teen Center are asking area residents to again support Brunswick’s youth at a special scooping event on Wednesday, April 24.
The Gelato Fiasco Flagship Store will donate 100 percent of April 24 sales beyond the seasonal daily average to the Brunswick Teen Center. Last year’s Scoop-a-Thon raised $3,367 and more than 900 people participated.
This year, for the first time, other local businesses and organizations are joining the event. Supporting sponsors will make a donation to the Brunswick Teen Center. Generous support will be acknowledged in the event advertising and press releases. If your business or organization would like to become involved, email jess@peopleplusmaine.org.
