PAINTING conservator Nina Roth-Wells cleans the scene painted on the rear panel of the Libby Sleigh at Skyline Farm Carriage Museum in North Yarmouth.

NORTH YARMOUTH — On Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. Skyline Farm Carriage Museum, at 95 The Lane, hosts Nina Roth- Wells of Georgetown who will describe her painstaking work on the Libby sleigh and answer questions.

Nearly all vehicles arrive at the museum covered with dust and dirt, most of which can be gently removed. However, in cases where artwork is found, a deeper professional cleaning and stabilization is often warranted. This was the case with the historically important Libby sleigh.

In January, Skyline Farm hired professional painting conservator Roth-Wells to clean and conserve the painting on the sleigh’s back panel. Both the process and end result were exciting, revealing new elements of the painting hidden by grime and discolored varnish for decades, a news release said.

Refreshments will be served.
