PORTLAND — The Young@Heart Chorus — the hippest seniors to ever hit the stage and the big screen — return to Maine with their new live show “Young@Heart Chorus Now.”
The performance will take place at Merrill Auditorium on Sunday, March 24, at 2:30 p.m. This is their only live concert in Maine and Coastal New Hampshire this year.
A news release describes Young@Heart as follows:
The sexy and senior Young@Heart Chorus, composed of more than two dozen vigorous vocalists aged 73 to 90, recently returned from a tour of Japan. The chorus’ repertoire contrasts with music from their own era, as they exclusively perform rock and pop songs from the late 20th century and new millennium. Based in Northampton, Mass., they perform for enthusiastic fans of all ages in the United States and around the world.
The show features songs from the new CD by the same name. Their first appearance in Portland sold out in 2011 and remains the chorus’ largest performance in the United States to date.
The Young@Heart Chorus has become famous for its defiant and moving performances, a news release said.
