The one-act competition begins with Maine Central Institute performing “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare,” followed by “J.B.,” performed by Wiscasset High School at 7 p.m. and Morse High School at 8 p.m., with a play written by senior Sopie Mayo, “STR-8-2-VID30.”
The competition resumes Saturday morning, March 9, with Boothbay Regional High School performing “The Brothers Grimm Spectacularthon” at 11 a.m., South Portland at noon with “What Happened to Cass McBride” and Waynflete at 1 p.m. with “Olivia’s Place.”
The festival concludes that evening with Windham performing “The Summer People” at 4 p.m. and Freeport performing the student-written “Smoke and Mirrors” at 5 p.m.
Lisbon High School is the only other Mid-coast school scheduled to compete this year. The Greyhounds will perform Saturday at Bonny Eagle High School in Standish.
They’ll be joined by Fryeburg Academy and Winthrop High School in the middle session, beginning at noon.
Tickets are $7 and $4 for students per session.
