In 1942 Phil joined the United States Army. He specialized in artillery and served his country in Europe, France, Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg.
In June of 1946 he married Laurianne Michaud and the couple resided in Topsham to raise their family. Phil was employed at Webster Street Lumber Mill from 1946-1963, and then he worked for Bath Iron Works until retiring in 1984. Phil was also a carpenter on the side, his entire life, building his own home in 1961.
Phil enjoyed his “golden years” by wintering in Ocala, Florida for the next 18 years, he loved traveling. He also enjoyed playing cards and always looked forward to spending time with his family. He loved sports, and in his younger years played softball and a little hockey. Phil was also on the BIW Bowling league.
Phil was a very active member of the Nights of Columbus and was a communicant of St. John, the Baptist Church in Brunswick.
He is predeceased by his wife, Laurianne, and 5 sisters, Adele Wood, Louise LeTarte, Cecile Litalien, Georgianna Cote and Jeanette Mann.
He leaves behind a daughter Janice Livernois and her husband David of MA, 1 sister, Rose Vallencourt of RI, 2 grandchildren, Laurie Wills and her husband James of Wheelersburg OH, and Stephen Livernois and his wife Amy of Parkton, MD; 5 great grandchildren, Sarah, Joel, Claire, Kyle, and Cody; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 8 from 9- 10am at Demers Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick, Maine. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Church.
