She was born on Bailey Island, July 1, 1917, the daughter of John Leo Murray, Sr. and Helen Orr Murray.
She attended Bailey Island schools, North Yarmouth Academy and Brunswick High School.
She was married to Walter Alden Leeman, Sr. in NH on October 16, 1933. He died May 10, 1979.
Mrs. Leeman had been employed at Willow Cottage Restaurant on Bailey Island before working at Admiral Fletcher at his home for 10 years. She later worked for 8 years as a telephone operator for AT&T.
Always active in community projects, she was a former member of the vestry at the United Methodist Church and a member of the Willing Helpers.
She was always considerate and helpful to her family and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Walter A. Leeman, Jr. and a sister, Harriett Huff.
In addition to her daughter, Grace is survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held this summer on Orr’s Island.
