He was born in Warren, Maine on July 4, 1920 and the son of Lester and Mattie Young. He attended Morse High School and graduated in 1938. After graduation Arthur worked for Bath Iron Works as an Electrician before entering the Army Air Force during WWII.
Arthur married Frances O. Lemont from Bath on April 18, 1940. He and Frances were married for 72 years and they raised four children together. All their children are living and will be in Southport, Maine for a celebration of his life this summer. Roger Young, who was born while Arthur was at war during his birth, is married to JoAnn and living in Port Charlotte, Florida during the winter and resides at the family cottage in Southport, Maine summers. Daughters Gail Cann and husband George of Port Charlotte Florida, Betsy Jordan and husband Rob of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and Julie Racioppi and husband Nick of Woolwich, Maine all frequent the family residence in Southport and look forward to saying goodbye there to him this summer.
Although his move to New Hampshire afforded him to pursue his dream in car sales, his happiness was coming home with his wife to Bath, Maine where they both grew up.
Arthur is predeceased by his loving wife Frances and brother Lester. He leaves his sister, Phyllis Ward from Canton, Ct., sister in law Pauline Young from Durham, Maine, sister in law Marjorie Sylvester from Bath, Maine and Ann Harford, husband Rick from Edgecomb, Maine and nephew Stevan Sylvester from Portland, Maine.
A celebration of life will be held at their cottage on Southport Island, Maine during the summer months.
