On May 1, 1948, he married Margaret F. Muise.
Irvin worked at Marriner Lumber for five years. He then worked at Bowdoinham fertilizer companies for 40 years.
He was on many community services including fire chief assistant, fire chief, assisted constable, school construction committee, finance committee, credit union committee, deputy forestry warden, three terms as selectman, superintendent of water district, industrial board and public weigher.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, flying airplanes, motorcycle riding, and especially the cross country camping trip that he had always wanted to do.
He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Temple of Bowdoinham; and his daughters, Kathleen Skelton and Deborah Gross of Lisbon Falls. He is also survived by five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alby and Clara Temple; his brother, Fred “Snap” Temple; his sister, Viola Christine “Teen” Moore; and his son, Bruce Temple.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald McLaughlin officiating.
Spring interment with military honors will be in Bay View Cemetery, Bowdoinham.
