WISCASSET — The design and construction of chimneys in early houses is the focus of the second presentation in Lincoln County Historical Association’s winter lecture series on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m.
Restoration mason Richard Irons’ talk, “The Anatomy of an Old Chimney,” wil be in the Communications Building behind the Lincoln County Court House.
Irons, who recently restored part of the chimney at the Old Jail in Wiscasset, is a specialist in historic period restoration and preservation reproduction with nearly 40 years of experience as a professional masonry contractor and consultant, a news release said. He was the first tradesperson to receive the Maine Historic Preservation Award, and he has been featured in a number of professional publications for his work on significant early houses.
A suggested donation of $5 is requested, and coffee and homemade pastries will be provided.
