CEDAR PARK, Texas – Cory Joseph scored 25 points and the Austin Toros pulled away in the second half Wednesday night to earn a 111-94 victory against the Maine Red Claws in a D-League game at Cedar Park Center.
Unlike Tuesday night, when the game got away from Maine in the opening minutes, the Red Claws were able to stay with the Toros for the first half.
The Toros begain the third quarter with a 55-52 lead, but ended the quarter with an 13-5 run, capped by a 3-pointer by Chris Roberts. Maine was unable to put anything together in the fourth quarter.
The Red Claws struggled with their shooting the entire game, making just 35 of 91 field goals, including just 5 of 21 from 3-point range.
Shelvin Mack led the Red Claws (19-15) with a game-high 26 points and four assists. Omar Reed had a double-double on the night with 14 points and 13 rebounds. DaJuan Summers added 17 points and eight rebounds.
James Mays scored 18 points and Chris Wright had 10 points as Maine’s only other double-digit scorers.
The Toros had four players score in double figures: JaMychal Green and Rick Jackson both finished the game with double-doubles, scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds, and 19 points and 11 rebounds, respectively. Roberts added 17 points and dished out five assists. Jamarr Sanders also contributed 15 points and six assists.
